The New Brunswick Legal Aid Services Commission (NBLASC) is seeking a lawyer for the Woodstock regional office.
The successful candidate will handle criminal defense services in all levels of Court. He or she will be responsible for defending offences under the Criminal Code of Canada, Controlled Drugs and Substance Act, Youth Criminal Justice Act, and other Federal statutes within the scope of services provided by NBLASC.
The position involves pre-trial preparation including interviewing witnesses and researching points of law. The successful candidate will have demonstrated competence in trial advocacy and a keen interest in criminal matters. The position also involves providing assistance to senior lawyers on complex cases as required.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Law Degree;
- Membership in good standing or eligibility for membership with the Law Society of New Brunswick;
- Completion of Articling;
- Written and spoken competence in English (Please state your language capability).
Candidates with less than 5.5 years of membership at the bar will typically be considered as Lawyer level I. Candidates with more than 5.5 years, but no more than 10 years of membership at the bar will typically be considered as Lawyer level II.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Asset Qualifications:

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with skill level and experience:
NBLASC LAWYER SERIES PAY PLAN LEVEL I-II
$1,804 - $3,779 biweekly
